NASCAR Diecast model cars have been available for generations, and the success of NASCAR, their popularity and value is on the rise.

There are thousands of different paint schemes available for the most popular 1/24 scale Nascar Diecast cars, which means you are sure to find replicas for just about all the racing teams and their cars that participate in the NASCAR racing circuit.

Diecast cars have been around since nearly the beginning of the 20th century. But the toys themselves and the market for them has evolved over that time. Early versions of the cars were cheap and often broke after extended use. With improvements in the casting process, a sturdier
toy was produced. The major auto makers started partnering with toy manufacturers, like Mattel, to make diecast models of their newest cars. This was seen as a good marketing strategy because it got a model of the car into the family and the children were excellent source for influencing parent’s purchasing decisions. It all culminated in the 1980’s when the collectibles market for die-cast car was born. (178)

In the 1990’s, Racing Champions and other brands began to make replicas of Nascar cars in 1/24, about 8 inches long, and 1/64, about 3 inches long, scale. This opened up a huge new market for collectibles. When a NASCAR legends like Dale Earnhardt Sr. would appear at a race with a one time
custom paint job, a commemorative, officially licensed Nascar Diecast car would be made especially for the event, creating an instant collector’s item.

The growing number of NASCAR fans made a perfect match for this business opportunity. Selling limited edition replicas drives the demand for them. Earnhardt, who helped to start the special paint craze, started his own die-cast car company, Action Collectibles. There are now dozens of companies making NASCAR diecast cars.

It is so much more than 500 miles of left turns, any real NASCAR fan will tell you.

It is all about rivalries, about passion, about hating Dale Earnhardt Jr., and loving Gordon even if he does not win. NASCAR has torn families apart. Most of the time, it defies logic and common sense and prudence. I mean really 500 miles of left turns, but still 100s of 1000s of people come out to see their driver pass the finish line flipped over or right side up.

Sometimes, I do not get it, but whatever gets you excited, I suspect is alright, as long as it is legal.

I suspect it is like the arguements I had with my father over which Yankee team was the greatest or which baseball player was the best. The arguements are really not based on statistics as much as it is based on the emotional attachments we develope with the participants themselves. The more we associate with them, the more likely we will overlook their failures and accentuate their successes.

Often, the failures, when circumstances appear to be the greatest against them tend to pull harder on the heartstrings.

Regardless, NASCAR has seen them come and go, and like all sports, the passions are high, the opinions are strong, and the intensity can reach a boiling point. But what are the ingredients that cook up a NASCAR champion. Winning is obviously one of them, but winning in and of itself
is not the only factor.

How they perform, who they defeat play as much of a role in magnifying
the intensity of fans and who they embrace.

NASCAR champions are as real to NASCAR fans as with any sport, so make sure you have the powder dry and the sheilds in place because when the conversations start over who is best, the fireworks are only just beginning.

Fans come to Talladega for a show, and Sunday, April 27, 2009, they got it. But the sentiment from some of the drivers who actually finished the Aaron’s 499 and Carl Edwards, who crashed less than 150 yards from the finish was the same.

NASCAR just puts us in this box and we’ll race in it until a NASCAR Wreck kills someone, maybe when that happens they’ll change it,” said Edwards, who was leading before he tried to block eventual winner Brad Keselowski, which set off a chain reaction that resulted in Edwards’ No. 99 Ford going airborne and into the catch fence at Section K of the stands on the front
stretch.

Edwards ran to the start-finish line to complete the race, unaware that seven fans had been
harmed when his car’s roof plowed into the fence. The most serious injury was a woman with a broken jaw, according to Talladega Speedway Medical Director Bobby Lewis.

NASCAR saw things differently. “This is a big, fast racetrack no doubt, but our drivers are professional race car drivers. There are limits to everything and it seems as though no matter what, our drivers will stretch those limits,” said Jim Hunter, NASCAR Vice President of Communications. “Our crash investigators will analyze this crash to see if there’s anything we can do to prevent something like this. We’re always looking at ways to make racing safer.

That is our No. 1 priority.”

But where was NASCAR when the sanctioning body needed to be policing the event? Hoots made note of NASCAR’s “Aggressive Driving Zone” in the meeting which runs through the corners and in the tri-oval where the final crash occurred. But NASCAR handed out just one warning throughout the course of the afternoon to Brian Vickers, whose right tires went below the yellow line as he went to pass Keselowski early. It was clear that drivers were pushing each other and bump-drafting throughout the entire race. NASCAR needs to enforce these rules and not limit penalties to judgment calls.

NASCAR is a family-owned and operated business venture that sanctions and governs multiple auto racing sports events; and was founded by Bill France Sr. in 1947-48. As of 2009, the CEO for the company is Brian France, grandson of the late Bill France Sr.

NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing in the United States. The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the Sprint Cup, the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series. It also
oversees NASCAR Local Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour, and the Whelen All-American Series.

NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 states, Canada, and Mexico. NASCAR has presented exhibition races in Suzuka City, Japan, Motegi City, Japan, and Melbourne, Australia.

NASCAR is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, and maintains offices in four North Carolina cities: Charlotte, Mooresville, Concord, and Conover. Regional offices are also located in New York City, Los Angeles, Bentonville, Arkansas, and international offices in Mexico City and Toronto.

Additionally, owing to its southern roots, all but a handful of NASCAR teams are still based in North Carolina, especially near Charlotte.

In October 2000, the Time Warner Company, Turner Sports Interactive, acquired all of NASCAR’s interactive rights and the rights to the nascar.com domain. As of January 2001, Turner Sports Interactive is the exclusive producer, and NASCAR.com is the official site for NASCAR Inc. The
NASCAR.COM staff is located in Atlanta, GA., with additional personnel in Charlotte, NC., and Daytona FL. The nascar.com domain is currently leased through Network Solutions, and extends through the year 2016.

NASCAR is one of the most viewed professional sports in terms of television ratings in the United States. In fact, professional football is the only sport in the United States to hold more viewers than NASCAR.

A ruling by a federal appeals court cleared the way for NASCAR to prevent AT&T Inc. from featuring its logo on Jeff Burton’s No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said in its order that San Antonio based AT&T lacks standing to challenge NASCAR’s decision, a significant blow to AT&T and Cingular.

The court threw out a lower court’s ruling that prevented NASCAR from stopping AT&T’s plans. The appeals court remanded the case to the U.S. District Court in Atlanta for dismissal. At issue is AT&T’s desire to change the Cingular logo on Burton’s car to the AT&T logo based on the recent purchase of AT&T by Cingular, where Cingular retained the AT&T brand name.

AT&T bought Atlanta based BellSouth Corp. last year, gaining full control of Cingular and has since rebranded the cell phone provider under the AT&T name. NASCAR has tried to prevent the Cingular logo from being changed to the AT&T logo on Burton’s car because AT&T rival Sprint Nextel Corp. sponsors NASCAR’s premier series, the Nextel Cup, and has exclusive rights as the telecommunications company for the series.

This became a clear conflict in Nextel’s mind which prompted the action on their part. Attorneys for NASCAR and Sprint Nextel have argued the only exceptions are companies, including Cingular, that already sponsored cars when Nextel reached its agreement with NASCAR.

Cingular’s parent has argued that its rights included changing its brand name to AT&T. Clearly the court did not agree with this perspective and furthermore contented that such a claim was not specified in the sponsorship terms and conditions of the sited law.

The case, which includes a $100 million countersuit by NASCAR against AT&T, is scheduled to go to trial. The results of which is had to determine based on the ruling in this case.

Jeff Gordon began racing at the age of five, racing quarter midgets. The Roy Hayer Memorial Race Track in Rio Linda, California is noted as the first track Gordon ever competed on.

By the Age of 6 Gordon had won 35 main events and set 5 track records. By the age of 13 Gordon took an interest in the 650 horsepower sprint cars. In his midget car career between 1989 and 1992, he finished in the Top 3 in 22 of 40 USAC midget car events.

In 1994, Gordon scored a popular hometown victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the inaugural Brickyard 400, passing Ernie Irvan for the lead late in the race when Irvan lost a tire. Additionally, Gordon collected his first career victory at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Coca Cola 600, NASCAR’s longest and most demanding race.

1995 saw Gordon win his first NASCAR Winston Cup Championship. He won it by battling 7-time and defending champ, Dale Earnhardt into the final race of the season. Many see this as a symbolic passing of the torch, as Gordon collected his first championship the year after Earnhardt won his seventh and final championship.

Gordon got off to a rocky start in 1996, but rebounded to win ten races. He finished 2nd to teammate Terry Labonte for the championship. Jeff Gordon won his first Daytona 500 in 1997. Later in the season he also won the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte.

Gordon struggled in 2002, not winning til the fall Bristol race, and winning at Darlington and Kansas. Gordon started the 2005 season with a win in the Daytona 500, but inconsistency would plague him throughout the year. A late season run put him in position to qualify for the Chase, but in the last race before the Chase at Richmond, Gordon made contact with the wall and failed to qualify for the chase.

Gordon won his ninth road race, the 2006 Dodge/Save Mart 350, at the Infineon Raceway his first win of the season and fifth at Infineon. The day before the race, he announced his engagement to Belgian model Ingrid Vandebosch.

In 1969, Junior Johnson was searching for a sponsor for his team. He asked officials of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company if they might be interested. And the rest is history, NASCAR history.

Tobacco advertising having been banned from television, RJR was eager to find a new way to create exposure for its product. After Johnson got their interest RJR decided that racing was just the thing it was looking for. But RJR wanted something bigger than a single-team sponsorship. It wanted to be a major player in the sport itself.

The tobacco company dove into NASCAR with huge corporate backing, becoming the title sponsor of its premier series. In 1972, NASCAR’s Grand National division officially became the Winston Cup Series.

What began as a relatively small turned into something major. In 1971, the Winston Cup championship was worth $100,000; in 1992, champion Tony Stewart collected a cool $3.75 million. Since that time Winston has pumped more than $100 million into NASCAR’s premier series points fund over the years.

Winston’s involvement didn’t stop with its title sponsorship. It also supported NASCAR’s national weekly racing series. backed NASCAR’s all-star race (The Winston), and funded The Winston Million bonus program. RJR employs a full-time PR staff just to assist the press with Winston Cup coverage, and it produces a comprehensive race-by-race media guide with updated statistics on every race and every driver.

For more than three decades Winston has been virtually synonymous with NASCAR, with its familiar red-and-white flags flapping over every racing venture. The Winston era has ended.

The Nextel communications giant, replaced Winston in 2004. Nextel’s 10-year deal as tire sponsor of NASCAR’s premier series is worth a reported $700 million. Most NASCAR fans see the change as a positive one for the sport. What was once considered a rural; rough-neck recreation has in recent years experienced national popularity. NASCAR has worked hard to
preen its mainstream image, and separating itself from tobacco and its growing negatives, is a major step in NASCAR’s ongoing public relations process.

The NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup, originally known as “The Chase for the Championship” during its creation, and then “The Chase for the Nextel Cup” (from 2004 to 2007) is the championship system used in NASCAR’s top division, the Sprint Cup Series.

The Chase was announced January 2004, and first used during the 2004 Nextel Cup season. The format used from 2004 to 2006 was modified slightly for the 2007 season. The 10 race Chase format pits the 12 drivers with the highest regular season points against each other, while racing in
the standard field of 43 cars. Beginning with the 2008 Sprint Cup Series, the Chase became known by its new name as a result of the merger of Nextel Communications with Sprint Corporation.

The driver with the most points after the final 10 races is declared the
champion.

The publicly stated purpose for the NASCAR Chase system was to make the NASCAR mid-season more competitive, increase fan interest and boost television ratings. The timing coincides with the beginning of the college and National Football League seasons. Prior to the Chase format, the Cup champion was often determined mathematically long before the end of the
NASCAR season which a situation that still exists in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, which does not have a Chase system.

By resetting and compressing the scoring of top 10 drivers, the chances of each of those ten drivers winning the championship was increased, while not precluding anyone with a legitimate chance of winning but based on the historical analysis that no driver outside the top 10, with 10 races remaining in the season, has ever gone on to win the Championship.

While the NASCAR Chase format has help maintain interest, it needs to be introduced or some variation of it to the other series.

In the beginning, stock car racing was exactly what it sounds like. Drivers actually bought brand new cars from dealers and went racing.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), organized in 1947, created a standardized set of rules for stock car racing and established a system for selecting a national champion based on performance at races across the country where points and position matters.

The original races were run on dirt tracks rutted and bumpy which put a strain on engines as well as all the parts of the car. The unmodified cars were not equipped to deal with this type of pressure. NASCAR began authorizing modifications to the cars to increase their ability to manage the track variations.

Over the years, more and more modifications were made, sometimes to increase safety and sometimes to improve competition. NASCAR is responsible for controlling the type and class of modifications, which are detailed in the NASCAR rule book. Cars are verified for compliance with these rules at every race.

NASCAR race cars have very little in common with street cars. Almost every detail of a NASCAR car is handmade with the bodies being built from flat sheet metal, the engines are assembled from a bare block and the frame is constructed from steel tubing. Not all of the cars are built to the same specifications. Some cars are dedicated short track cars, and others are dedicated super speedway cars. There are some major differences between the two types.

Careful consideration when selecting the direction you want to go needs to be taken when starting the process of building a ready for prime time NASCAR racing car. Entering into this form of racing is a financial commitment that few are willing to undertake. Those that do, find the passion for the sport and building their cars from the ground up, the basis for their efforts.
